Arsenal Boss Arsene Wenger: Toulouse’s Andre-Pierre Gignac Too Expensive (Goal.com)

Le professeur won’t move for France international…

Arsene Wenger has declared he does not agree with Toulouse’s asking price for Andre-Pierre Gignac, effectively ending speculation of an advance from Arsenal for the French international.

Gignac has dispatched 35 goals in 85 appearances for Toulouse, and has been equally efficient with les Bleus, scoring four goals in ten outings.

But despite his impressive goals return, Wenger says Toulouse’s £20 million evaluation of Gignac does not meet his own evaluations of the player, nor does it fall in line with Arsenal’s recruitment policy.

“I like the player,” Wenger told the club’s official site. “I don’t need to send people to watch him because I know him well enough already because he plays for the French national team.

“[Olympique] Lyon tried to buy him last year for nearly £20 million, so the price was too high [for us to even consider],” he concluded.
